One of the perils in scheduling outdoor photos well in advance is that you have no idea what the forecast will look like when your shoot finally rolls around, which is precisely the dilemma that Sarah and I faced as her family's session approached. The forecast looked miserable, and when Saturday arrived with persistent morning showers, I assumed we'd be falling back on our rain date. But the skies cleared and our cautious optimism was rewarded with a perfect fall afternoon in downtown Allegan. (Pure Michigan, indeed.)
TGIF, my friends! I'm ending out the week with images of this beautiful family, and just flipping through these leaves me smiling ear to ear. We had so much fun shooting on their farm, and sweet little Emma totally stole my heart. Again.
I don't think we can deny that fall is settling in, and I keep asking myself how long I can get away with still wearing Birkenstocks. As the days keep trending cooler, it's good to reflect on the beautiful summer we enjoyed. The Jonkhoff family lucked out with perfectly beautiful end-of-summer weather for their sessions, and as I transition into sweaters and jackets, I'll be remembering the beauty of warm, sunny afternoons like this one.
How fun would it be to spend a week staying on Lake Michigan with your entire family?! (Not to mention waking up to scenes worthy of a Pure Michigan ad every day.) I loved getting to capture a few memories for this bunch while they vacationed together. You want to know what's also great? Dutch bingo, because everyone in West Michigan is somehow connected (and that is the best).
